Modern VHS & video camera tape conversion is more than just playing the tape into a home DVD recorder. This leads to a poor-quality output and fails to recognise the nuances in these legacy technologies.

Why?

“VHS” was invented by JVC and entered the market way back in 1976, becoming the de-facto home video standard for almost four decades.

With its playback designed for the old fashioned and now outdated ‘CRT Tube Style" TVs, it never mattered how the edges of the picture looked, as those old TVs simply displayed an enlarged picture that hid the rough edges from view, a process called ‘overscanning.’

Fast forward to now and your flatscreen TV shows every picture detail of VHS (and other analogue tape technologies) that the designer’s never intended you to see – ragged edges, vertical blanking, head switching noise and colour irregularities.
